Overview

Combining the power of BuildingLink with the Amazon Alexa voice platform makes for a fun and seamless resident experience. Once the BuildingLink Alexa skill is enabled, residents can ask Alexa a variety of questions -- whether they have deliveries, if their dry cleaning has been picked up, if a repair has been fixed, and much more. 


The following instructions can be shared with residents and are also available on the BuildingLink Resident Help page.

Open the Alexa app, go to the menu and click More on the bottom right corner. Then, select Skills & Games, and use the Search tool on the upper right to look for BuildingLink. Or, navigate directly to the BuildingLink skill by clicking here from your device. Select the skill to open the details page and tap Launch to Use. 

 


After enabling the skill, you will need to link it to your BuildingLink account. Select Link Account, and then input your BuildingLink username and password. If you're enabling the skill from the app, you may get a pop-up asking you to "Allow" the verification page to open. Be sure to click "Allow".

 

 

To begin using the BuildingLink Alexa skill, residents can simply say, "Alexa, open BuildingLink." Next, for a complete list of everything Amazon Alexa can do, residents can say, "Alexa, ask BuildingLink what can I say?" Depending on the settings for your property, residents will be able to say things like:

 

Have my items been picked up?

Are there any machines available?

Tell me what's going on in the building today.

I need my car.

 

And much more!

 

Even when the BuildingLink skill isn't open, residents can ask Alexa for a wide range of BuildingLink-related information, including the following:

 

-The resident's account balance

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink for my account balance.

-Scrolling announcements added in the last 48 hours

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink if there are any new announcements.

-Building contact information

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink how to reach management.

-Calendar events

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink what's going on tomorrow.

-Delivery and package information

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink if I have any deliveries

-Gym information

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink if the gym is  busy.

-The status of the resident's maintenance requests

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink about my maintenance requests.

-Staff on duty

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink who's on duty

-Valet requests

Sample question: Alexa, ask BuildingLink to get my car.
